Blogging

The age of blogging and the influencer

When I first started blogging I did it anonymously. I used to write about my life and share what I was going through, dating and personal issues and surprisingly a lot of people wanted to read and interact with me. I didn’t have a picture up but I received a lot of comments about how others were experiencing something similar, I was amazed at how many people I was able to reach.

When I decided to stop writing about me and wanted my face to be known I chose to write about three things that I loved, I received support from my old blog readers who encouraged me to do it. What I didn’t realize was how hard it was going to be to break into a market that had blown up in popularity and had created amazing opportunities for those who had been writing long before “influencer” was a thing. I had been following Amiee Song (song of style), Chiara Ferragni (the blonde salad), Lydia Elise Millen, Zoe Sugg (Zoella), Negin Mirsalehi, Danielle Bernstein (WeWoreWhat), and Gary Pepper to name a few. I watched as they grew and developed into these stylish, trendy creators and girl bosses. I even saw when some of them ventured into Youtube and created their own brands.

It’s a crazy thing to watch and see this happen but if you’ve been following them long enough you’ll know how much work, time, effort and patience they had to put into creating their blog and brand.

I guess for me I became intimidated at the thought of having to try to find my own place, I went off my blog for so long I forgot what I even wanted to write about or even why I was trying since there are so many others who have a wider reach then I do. It took a bit of time for me to realize and see that blogging for me is an outlet to share what I’m passionate about with others, to hopefully give another side and start a conversation and to gain feedback to grow.

The world of blogging and influencers is an exciting world that if you have passion, drive and creativity you can create a whole career for yourself. It’s not about who has the most followers or likes, it’s about what you bring and how others respond to it. So what the question is what do I bring? Let’s find out shall we.

I hope that you want to experience this journey with me, and we can grow together.
